Richard Welch, M.D.

A native of Bowling Green, KY, double board-certified physician Dr. Richard Welch has served as the medical director of Doctors Diet Program since it opened in 2007. He is also the owner and medical director of MD Cosmedx, the first advanced standalone cosmetic and lipolysis center to open in southern Kentucky. Dr. Welch has an advanced certification in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and is additionally trained in aesthetic medicine and bariatrics.

Since 1998, Dr. Welch previously worked as an associate member of PrimeCare Medicine Associates. Since opening MD Cosmedx in 2004, he has made it his mission to integrate conventional medicine with personalized, proactive care to better serve patients. He practices this personalized approach to medicine each day, collaborating with patients to help them take charge of their health.

Education and Certifications

Dr. Welch graduated from Western Kentucky University before going on to earn his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1994. He completed his residency training at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, focusing on family medicine. He is licensed to practice medicine by both the Kentucky and South Carolina medical boards. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege to work with and learn from some of the most skilled physicians in the country, advancing his knowledge in aesthetics, bariatrics, and anti-aging treatments.

In addition to his university education, Dr. Welch has the following certifications:
